Residencies and special events

Come to research, rehearse, investigate, write, think, or work at Ponderosa
Home » Our program » Residencies and special events

Ponderosa is a place for writers, performers, artists, curators, and others who would like to research, rehearse, refine, or investigate their work. Residencies at Ponderosa provide everything that is needed for deep and concentrated work, while also allowing for a collective experience, shared social spaces, and discussion and exchange with like-minded artists.
We offer one old farm, with two winter-ready heated studios, and endless surrounding fields, forests, lakes, and rivers in the area of the Nationalpark Unteres Odertal, right by the Oder river marking the border between Germany and Poland – all of this to trigger your imagination and creativity.

Ponderosa also has special events — events that are irregular, not run according to a strict schedule, special one-offs, and other occasional strange things. These are outlined here below as well.

Propose a residency

If you feel that you would like to undertake a self-directed residency at Ponderosa, please contact us, outlining your proposition, and including the following details:
  • An overview of your background and the artistic discipline in which you work
  • An idea of your intended work during the residency time — for example, a specific project or theme that you might be working on
  • Your thoughts on sharing time and space with fellow artists and other visitors, in a communal atmosphere
  • Whether you would intend to take accommodation a single room, or in a shared dormitory
  • Whether you are applying for a residency as an individual or as a group
  • Any other specifics relevant to the application

Please note that the time of year available for residencies is usually the springtime and the autumn — generally speaking, it is not possible to propose a residency for summer. There are, however, occasional exceptions.
