Who? What? Where?
Got questions? Here’s the overview of how it all works.
Who will take part?
We are looking for creative teens and young adults, aged from 16 to 21, who love to move, make art, get on stage, create, and build new things. It doesn’t matter what you can or cannot do — you just need to be able to jump in. This is a supportive environment, where enthusiasm and curiosity are just as important as any previous skills or training.
What will be be doing?
The company is an intensive year-round training, which will prepare young adults to consider the performing arts as a career. This is also a life-skill process and experience, dependent on developing body-based knowledge, and on the development of each member’s abilities of expression and self-expression, confidence, and collaborative capacity. So, be ready to improvise, to dance, to create art, and to perform the world you are experiencing. Come with your favorite superstar impersonation and take that a step towards reality. Let’s use fantasy to understand and perform the world you are experiencing every day. We will provide solid foundations in movement techniques, safe and bold ways to interact physically with others and fun ways to communicate story and theatrical narratives.
Where and when will it happen?
The ensemble will meet for weekly classes and rehearsals, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 16:30–20:00. This will happen during these times:
This will be happening at the studios of Ponderosa, in Stolzenhagen.
Performances and showings will take place at the end of each rehearsal block, in December 2019 and June 2020 – exact dates will be confirmed closer to these dates. In addition, there will be optional extra opportunities to perform and present work in July 2020, during the Ponderosa Tanzland Festival and Stolzenhagen Dorffest.
And there will be other opportunities throughout the year — more details will be coming soon!
Regular school holiday camps will also be offered during the summer, autumn, and spring holidays. Company members will receive a discount price for all holiday camps, and when students have permission from instructors, they may participate in classes and workshops held during the Ponderosa Tanzland Festival. Students will also receive free admission to Ponderosa performance events.
Some courses will not be appropriate for younger students — please ask us if you have any questions or concerns.
Instructors and curriculum
The company will be led by artistic director, choreographer and mentor, Stephanie Maher, sharing tactics and strategies for a creative lifestyle.
The regular weekly classes will be co-taught by guest teachers from all over the world.
