Home » Ponderosa Residencies, Autumn 2017
Ponderosa is the perfect place for all writers, performers, and artists who would like to research, rehearse, and refine their work. Come and settle in at Ponderosa for a while, with all the facilities that the space offers, and work on your artistic projects.
Ponderosa is not just an amazing space to come and do concentrated work — it is also now entirely winterized! Heated studios, a co-working space with proper wi-fi, cosy rooms, cats on your lap, the living library, the warm fire in the kitchen — all await you.
Residencies are available year-round, but are best-suited to the periods of September to November, and February to May. (Countryside living is driven by the seasons — we take a break in December and January, and the summer is the busiest and fullest time.)
We offer the possibility to use your residency time to develop your work, to share and engage with the space, to compose, write, perform, teach, or exchange and present artistic ideas, and to work around any and all socio-political inquires arising from art and art-making.
Those who have been here before will have an idea about how the place is — it is best-suited to artists who are comfortable with coexisting with other activities and using our spaces communally. During residencies, the housing available is provided at a reduced rate, and the use of the studios is FREE OF CHARGE.
Residencies are available for individuals or for groups.

During the October residency period, food will be provided by Ponderosa. During the November residency period, food will NOT be provided by Ponderosa.
In both October and November, cooking will be a collaborative effort, with participants preparing meals together. However, in times when we have other programming running simultaneously, there may be the option to pay for food provided by a cook. We will be able to provide further updates about this closer to the time of the residency.

Studio time will be scheduled each week by the visiting residents. Since studios are shared by all artists-in-residence, collective effort is required to organize daily living tasks and to keep working and living environments clean, comfortable, and inviting.
Ponderosa is a space built around collaboration, flexibility, community, and shared efforts among all who are here — if you or your group can also be flexible and collaborative, then that is how the place works best.
